Far Cry 3 crafting guide

Hi!

Following is a Far Cry 3 crafting guide. Screen-shots are taken on PS3 platform. This mini-guide is best used to quickly get back into Far Cry 3 to experience the story for memories without the hassle of figuring things out from scratch.

Loot rucksack 2nd upgrade requires x2 Tapir hide. First upgrade is part of a quest and cannot be missed. That's why I'm omitting it.

3rd upgrade requires x4 Dingo pelt

Final upgrade for all pouches requires completing hunter quests to get rare animal skins. Exception is rocket pouch and holster which don't have a level 4 upgrade. To craft loot rucksack, hunt a bear with shotgun.
Here's how it looks like. Map is unified and shows all outposts that have hunter quests.

Holster 1st upgrade requires x1 Goat skin.

2nd upgrade requires x2 Deer hide

3rd upgrade requires x2 Shark skin. There's no further upgrades.

I'm missing the image for 1st Wallet upgrade. Unfortunately, I can't remember what skin was needed.
2nd upgrade requires x2 Cassowary leather

3rd upgrade requires x2 Shark skin

To craft final wallet, hunt buffalo with shotgun. It is possible to use any gun that's listed under shotguns at vendor. That means your favorite weapons with hard-earned attachments and paint.

Syringe 1st upgrade requires x1 Pig hide

2nd upgrade requires x3 Dog skin

3rd upgrade requires x2 Leopard skin

To craft final syringe, hunt panther with a bow.

Arrow quiver 1st upgrade requires x1 Goat skin

2nd upgrade requires x2 Tapir hide

3rd upgrade requires x2 Bear skin

Final upgrade. Hunt a shark with a bow. No need to buy the bow for $900-something in game money since bow and arrows are provided by the "path of the hunter" quest. Here's a link to map of outpost location, link to image showing craft screen, link to quest description. Unified map.

Ammo 1st upgrade requires x2 Boar hide
Link to image.
2nd upgrade requires x2 Buffalo hide
Link to image.
3rd upgrade requires x2 Tiger skin
Link to image.
For the final upgrade, a specific outpost needs to be liberated and a "path of the hunter" quest completed to get the skin. Hunt the tiger with a bow. Here's a link to map of outpost location, link to image showing craft screen, link to quest description. Unified map again.

Grenade pouch 1st upgrade requires x2 Goat skin
Link to image.
2nd upgrade requires x2 Deer hide
Link to image.
3rd upgrade requires x3 Komodo dragon skin
Link to image.
To craft final grenade pouch, hunt komodo with a bow.
Here's how it looks like. Map is unified and shows all outposts that have hunter quests.

Munitions pouch 1st upgrade requires x2 Goat skin

2nd upgrade requires x2 Leopard skin

3rd upgrade requires x2 Bear skin

To craft final munitions pouch, hunt tapir with a bow.
Here's how it looks like. Map is unified and shows all outposts that have hunter quests.

Fuel sling 1st upgrade requires x2 Dog skin

2nd upgrade requires x2 Boar hide
Link to image.
3rd upgrade requires x2 Komodo dragon skin

To craft final fuel sling, hunt cassowary with a sniper rifle. This one gives me the most trouble, since animal head is small, rifle magnification is marginal and hit-detection boxes are on-point. My accuracy is better with mouse on PC.

Rocket 1st upgrade requires x1 Deer hide

2nd upgrade requires x4 Dingo pelt

3rd upgrade requires x3 Tiger skin. This pouch doesn't have any further upgrades.

Notes on hunting: apart from quiver upgrade, I don't bother maxing out other bags with unique skin upgrades. It's of little use to upgrade weapon holster without maxing ammo pouch and loot bag is closely tied with syringe kit. If there's no room in loot bag to carry green leafs for medical syringe crafting, then there's no point in getting a large syringe bag. For now I've added a map of where to get ammo pouch final upgrade. It's absolutely vital, since by default only two clips can be carried in the pouch with the third one loaded in the gun, totalling 90 bullets for AK-47, the most common gun carried by pirates.
Get a shotgun to hunt dangerous beasts like bears, tigers, leopards and komodo dragons. All other animals are easy to hunt with the bow. It takes one shot to the face to down a tiger, two shots to take down a bear. Leopards are quite agile, and komodo dragons usually ambush in packs. Hunting dogs and dingos can be frustrating, since they almost always ambush in packs and move around quite fast. This comes from a player with bad accuracy. I've managed to hone my accuracy from playing Battlefield 4, but it's still quite bad with moving targets.
The island is very dangerous even on lower difficulties because areas around pirate controlled outposts usually spawn pirates all around the player as a form of reinforcement, making it really hard to survive. If two pirates stroll around in a seemingly deserted area, don't be fooled, as upon detection more pirates arrive by jeeps. In very unfortunate event a jeep with a mounted gun will show up. I've tested all difficulties and the accuracy seems to be pin-point on the mounted gun. Grab cover immediately to survive. It's hard to escape in a vehicle because of insane gunman accuracy.
Bears spawn around this radio tower, link to map.
